I’m a lifelong musician, songwriter, producer, and arranger. From my earliest memories, I was fascinated by the aura of music. Every instrument, every harmony, every rhythmic layer helped shape my impressionable mind.
I grew up surrounded by musicians. My father a central figure among other friends and family - rehearsals shaking the walls, harmonies drifting through the house, and a front‑row seat to the communal magic of music being created. That early environment shaped the value of music for me.
I’m self‑taught, learning most of what I know back before the days of YouTube, when learning meant figuring things out yourself. If you wanted to learn something, you figured it out. I rarely asked my dad, I liked to solve it on my own. How is this drum part played, or that guitar line? I was able to figure that stuff out. Recorded music particularly fascinated me, I marveled at those masterworks that marry great songs with great performances, captured in a pristinely engineered mix. I started recording by bouncing cassette tapes between two decks, then 4-track cassette, then 8-track reel-to-reel, and on. Ample curiosity spurred experimentation, I had a desire to understand how to make recordings like these.
I began my musical life as a ‘drummer’. At the ripe age of 10 I had 3 years of making banging noises to figure out several beats, and I could correctly play many of the radio songs I enjoyed at the time. Learning other instruments came from my writing and recording interest. Melody plus rhythm! I had to learn guitar. Then borrowed a bass guitar, a keyboard, and so on. Layering parts was a thrill. I wanted songs to feel full, like a place, with texture, that you could visit by listening. That impulse never left. Over the years, I became a producer and arranger out of passion. And following this muse has overall given me uplift, and some of my most proud personal achievements. Crafting recordings — intricate, textured, and emotionally grounded — is still one of my greatest joys.
Like so many people, my musical interests vary. I see merit in music of all kinds. Meaning is where someone discovers it, and I’m still discovering. Beats have always drawn me in, rhythms, harmonic left turns, neat hooks, singable melodies. Those are usually the parameters. The story of the song becomes the frame. I’ve never belonged to one genre, and I don’t try to. I follow whatever moves me, and I let that shape the music I make.
I’ve played the occasional solo show lately. A few with just a voice and a guitar. I’ve also been experimenting with incorporating my own curated backing tracks within the performance. I enjoy celebrating the fuller arrangements with a little freedom to improvise. At a show, people can settle in and feel something honest.
Today, my work lives in two worlds:
the recorded world, where I continue to follow my muse, building my full arrangements and original music with intention and curiosity; and
the live world, where I explore a more vulnerable, immediate version of those instincts through my Live & Loose series and solo performances.
I’m drawn to the warmth and honesty of human performances, so I keep my recordings free of autotune and AI.
